Member for the Agricultural Region, Mia Davies has welcomed Transport Minister Troy Buswell’s decision to provide free transport to the Kellerberrin Season Break, a community event to boost morale in the Central Wheatbelt after the recent dry season.
Ms Davies said the Transport Minister’s decision to provide four TransWA buses for this event was a great sign of support from the Government.
“Providing transport for this event is a great example of how Government can make small changes to meet the needs of the local community, in particular regional communities,” Ms Davies said.
“The Kellerberrin Season Break event aims to boost morale in the Central Wheatbelt where the community has suffered some of the worst seasonal conditions on record.
“This event highlights the ingenuity and resilience of the local community and communities through the Wheatbelt.”
Ms Davies said the event will bring together people from the local community, neighbouring Shires and other regional areas to celebrate what will hopefully be a far better season with music, food and fun.
“Season Break also aims to attract visitors from the metropolitan area to showcase the local culture and industry and garner a greater understanding of country people and living.”
Ms Davies commended the Shire of Kellerberrin and organizing committee for their work towards providing a boost to the local economy and improving morale during a difficult time in the Central Wheatbelt.
Members for the Agricultural Region, Hon Jim Chown, Hon Mia Davies, Hon Brian Ellis, Hon Philip Gardiner and Hon Max Trenorden, worked together to ensure transport was made available for this event.
The Season Break event will take place on 9 – 10 April 2011, with entertainment including bands Gyroscope, Baby Animals, Blue Shaddy, Yabu Band and Full Noise.
