Infrastructure Australia Grant Submission, Woodhams.

Author: Grant Woodhams
Published on: 18-November-2009

Hon Grant Woodhams MLA has welcomed the State Government’s recent submission to Infrastructure Australia for key infrastructure proposals for Western Australia.

One of the proposals put forward to Infrastructure Australia is for funding of the second stage of the 330kv power line from Eneabba to Moonyoonooka. The State Government has committed funds to build the 330kw power line from Pinjar to Eneabba, but continuation of the line is vital for Mid West industrial developments such as the Oakajee Port and Rail proposal.

Mr Woodhams said, "The continuation of the 330kw is vital for the growth of Geraldton and the Mid West region, not only to support the industrial development earmarked for the region, but to also ensure adequate power supplies to the city of Geraldton and surrounding towns such as Kalbarri and Northampton."

"Extension of the 330kw power line will also support such projects as the Square Kilometre Array project which is of international significance", Mr Woodhams said.

The cost of the second stage of the 330kw power line project is estimated at $280 million. The State Government has put forward a total of seven projects from across the state for consideration. The Infrastructure Australia Council will review submissions and identify those that are of national priority.
