Today Terry Waldron the Member for Wagin announced that four Shires and organisations have received $1,346,803 within our electorate of Wagin for construction and upgrades for local sporting organisations from the Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).

“This announcement included the Shire of Gnowangerup receiving funds to construct synthetic bowling greens, two cricket nets as well as floodlighting and hockey field relocation with synthetic multipurpose hockey and tennis area. Also to benefit from the CSRFF funding is the Shire of Brookton who will be redeveloping the WB Eva Pavilion.” Mr Waldron said.
“The Shire of Dumbleyung was also a recipient of a grant for the conversion of a grass bowling green to a synthetic surface at the Kukerin Bowling Club and the Shire of Lake Grace also will be converting grass bowling greens to synthetic surfaces at the Newdegate Bowling Club” he said.
These grants are some of the 55 community sport and recreation projects funded through the 2011/12 round of the CSRFF, administered by the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR).
This round’s successful applicants will share in a total of $15.8 million in funding.
Mr Waldron said the commitment recognised the contribution sport and recreation made to the local community and to the lives of everyday Western Australians.
“Sport and recreation is such a vibrant and integral part of our community. We love our sport and recreation in the Wagin Electorate, so it’s great to see it supported in our community through this funding,” Mr Waldron said.
“Not only will the works hopefully result in more people in our community participating and leading happier and healthier lifestyles, the works will also provide a boost to local tradespeople who will build the new and improved infrastructure.”
