Nationals’ Member for the South West Region Hon. Colin Holt has spoken out in recognition of the fantastic job Department of Environment and Conservation fire controllers play in protecting our communities from fire.
“DEC staff are highly trained with the skills and knowledge which are invaluable when fighting fires. DEC officers and bushfire volunteers are called upon to make critical decisions during every fire. We must continue to support them and recognise their importance to ensure they have the confidence to handle any fire challenge”.
“Last year DEC staff had 700 staff attend and monitor some 684 fires,” said Mr Holt, “They put themselves at the fire front on behalf of our communities.”
To help out our Fire Fighters, and with the warmer weather beginning, Mr Holt encourages everyone in the community to have an up to date Bushfire Action Plan in place. To see if your ready please visit this web site.
