Nationals’ member for the South West Region Hon. Colin Holt has called on members of the Great Southern community to nominate local Natural Resource Management (NRM) crusaders who are working to improve the Great Southern environment for the prestigious Great Southern Development Commission NRM Medal for Excellence.

The medal now in its tenth year offers public recognition for, and rewards best practice and innovative contributions to individuals working in Natural Resource Management in the Great Southern.

“Many individuals work to improve the management of the local environment, but many are unsung heroes this award aims to recognise these contributions as well as provide a financial incentive to help the winner to continue their work,” said Mr Holt.

In response to the diversity of the field of NRM, the medal for excellence is open to individuals involved in primary industries, research, land care management and policy as well as advisors and educators.

“I encourage everyone to nominate individuals in their local community for this prestigious award, the attention and recognition of this award allows winners to ensure their local projects receive the attention and support they deserve”

Entries must be received at the Great Southern Development Commission by 4.30pm on Friday May 27.
