Chance for regional West Australians to direct their energy, Duncan

Author: Wendy Duncan
Published on: 19-April-2011

West Australians living in regional, rural and remote areas have the opportunity to offer direction to the State’s future energy strategies and Member for Mining and Pastoral, Wendy Duncan has urged them to do so.

“People living in our region have particular and sometimes dissatisfying experiences of energy quality, pricing and supply and this is a great opportunity to make their views known to government,” Ms Duncan said
“It is critically important that regional people have strong input into the Office of Energy’s Energy2031 project to ensure that energy provision and pricing underpin the development and decentralisation that we all know is essential to the future of our State and nation.”
The vision of Energy2031 is to improve the security and reliability of West Australia’s future energy supply, ensuring cleaner energy is competitively priced.
Submissions can be made until Friday, 6 May 2011 to the Office of Energy or to energy2031@energy.wa.gov.au   Copies of the directions paper can be obtained by contacting the Office of Energy on 9420 5600 or visiting www.energy.wa.gov.au/energy2031
“Now is the time to ensure the particular needs of country West Australians are adequately met into the future,” said Ms Duncan.
