Chester Pass Road in line for funding, Holt.

Nationals Member for the South West Region Hon. Colin Holt has welcomed the State Governments recent submission to Infrastructure Australia, with a strong focus on investment on transport in WA.

“Regional WA is responsible for generating jobs and growth which will help the economic recovery of the country, and the State Government has called on Infrastructure Australia to recognise this fact and support these important projects,” sad Mr Holt.

The State Government sees a cooperative approach between State and Federal Government in unison with private enterprise as the conduit required to bring about needed improvements in road and rail in Albany and the Great Southern.

“Upgrading Chester Pass road is also a major focus for the Government, we see with the support of Infrastructure Australia we can improve this major arterial road and make it safer for all users,” said Mr Holt.

“In conjunction with this $129 million dollar request to the Federal Government to support works on Chester Pass Road, there is a request for $43 million dollars to help re-sleeper the Avon- Albany Rail link”

“These two projects are interrelated and will go a long way to help rectify road and rail concerns which have been raised regularly over the preceding 8 years in our region”

“These two projects will also go a long way to help invigorate the local economy through job creation and indirect multiplied spending, which is great news for all sectors of the local economy,” said Mr. Holt.
