Help is at hand for the next time a community group or individual needs to do some project planning and funding applications via a series of grant workshops in the Goldfields-Esperance region said Member for Mining and Pastoral Region Hon Wendy Duncan MLC.

Ms Duncan said a series of workshops, and one-on-one consultations, to be held throughout the region in 2011 aimed at developing the skills of individuals and organisations in planning for projects, writing grant applications, and managing grant funding.
“Having spent many years as a volunteer planning projects and writing funding submissions I believe anyone doing the same would welcome a workshop that may offer some insight into making the process easier.
“Succinct, well planned, and well written funding applications are often the ones which are successful in winning the funding money,” Ms Duncan said.
The series of workshops is presented by the The Goldfields-Esperance Development Commission and Regional Development Australia Goldfields-Esperance. The GEDC has administered the State Government’s Royalties for Regions initiative and understand the support community groups need when applying for funding.
Some of the local projects which have received Royalties for Regions funding include:
Esperance Bay Historical Society Inc., Museum displays, $ 20,000
Esperance Care Services relocation and expansion project, $ 360,000
Esperance Volunteer Sea Search & Rescue Group Inc, Naiad 8.5 rescue vehicle
$ 100,000
Esperance Senior High School, Trade Training Centre and Beyond, $200,000

A full list of recipients can be found at www.gedc.wa.gov.au
