Visitors and residents to the South-West are set to enjoy exciting new and upgraded facilities following today’s announcement of $9.745million in State Government funding towards the Busselton and Dunsborough foreshore precinct upgrades.
Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls visited Busselton today and highlighted key components of the projects, which would include leisure and entertainment areas, children’s play areas and space for sporting and cultural events.
Mr Grylls said Royalties for Regions would contribute $6.102million towards the Busselton Foreshore Redevelopment Project. The project would include imaginative purpose-built recreational facilities, landscaping and new pedestrian access ways. It would also help to link Queen Street to the foreshore and the newly revamped Busselton jetty.
“The Busselton foreshore will be a great place for local families, as well as visitors and is based on concepts developed through widespread community consultation by the Busselton Foreshore Working group,” he said.
The Minister said the State Government would also improve the facilities at Dunsborough with Royalties for Regions contributing $3.643million to the Dunsborough foreshore project.
“This funding will help to improve pedestrian access and provide a corridor between the Dunsborough town centre and the foreshore as part of the $5.1million Dunsborough foreshore project,” he said.
“Improving the visual and pedestrian links between Dunsborough town centre and the beach will bring out the best of what Dunsborough has to offer.
“Both of these projects will help to generate more employment by improving local amenity and add to the recreational, cultural, social and economic opportunities of the region.
