The Western Australian Government through the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF) program has today announced recipients of round one of the 2011/2012 funding round.

The funding is administered by the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR) and round one will see a total of $823,662 administered to sport and recreation facilities across the State.

Member for Mining & Pastoral Region, the Hon Wendy Duncan MLC, said that she is pleased to see some major projects in her electorate have been allocated funding through this program which will see the ongoing development of sustainable facilities for sport and recreation in the regions.

Ms Duncan said that the Kimberley region had received $93,537 for two projects; one which would see the installation and upgrade of cricket practice nets in Broome, and the other for the construction of toilets and storage at the Kununurra Multipurpose Courts.

“I am pleased that our sport and recreation facilities in the regions will benefit from this funding, in either enhancing already existing facilities or through the installation of new ones,” said Ms Duncan.

This funding indirectly encourages people of all ages to become actively involved in their local sport and recreation clubs through having access to upgraded or new facilities.

The next round of small grants (for projects under $150,000) opens in July. Clubs in regional WA should contact their nearest Department of Sport and Recreation office: http://www.dsr.wa.gov.au/contact
