New licensing service opens for Meekatharra residents, Catania

The Member for North West Region Vince Catania today launched a new licensing service for the Meekatharra community.
Mr Catania said a landmark agreement has been made allowing a not-for-profit organisation to provide online licensing services on behalf of the Department of Transport (DoT).
“This arrangement, a first in Western Australia, will give residents access to a full range of online licensing services at the Meekatharra Community Resource Centre (CRC) where customers will be able to conduct all of their driver and vehicle transactions at the one place,” he said.
“The Meekatharra CRC is an initiative funded under the Royalties for Regions program, giving this community greater access to government services and infrastructure
Previously an arrangement had been made with the Department of Mines and Petroleum and WA Police to provide some licensing services to the area but this will now free them up to enable them to conduct their core business.”
“I would like to thank the WA Police and Department of Mines and Petroleum staff for their excellent work in conducting licensing services in Meekatharra over the last few years.” Mr Catania said.
Services available include:
• paying bills;
• capturing of driver’s licence photos;
• applying for learner permits;
• undertaking hazard perception testing; and
• issuing and renewal of vehicle registrations.
Mr Catania said the CRC will operate under the same performance agreement as other DoT regional licensing agents.
“This is a tremendous use of a locally-owned and operated centre and I have no doubt it will be greatly received in Meekatharra and the wider Murchison community,” he said.
I would like to also acknowledge the support provided by the Shire of Meekatharra not only in providing the CRC building but also for their support for the volunteers.” Mr Catania said.
