Developers shortlisted for Eglinton residential project, Grylls

Lands Minister Brendon Grylls today announced three companies shortlisted by LandCorp in its search for a development partner at their northern suburbs Eglinton landholding.

Mr Grylls said the State Government was a step closer to finalising the partnering opportunity announced earlier this year.

“Western Australia’s development sector gave a strong response with nine potential developers emerging - a highly encouraging result, showing the great level of interest in the market place,” he said.

“Mirvac (WA) Pty Ltd, Peet Limited and Satterley Property Group will compete to deliver a new estate at Eglinton which will provide more residential land, affordable living choices and community facilities in the metropolitan area.”

The partnership will develop the northern half of LandCorp’s 240ha holding, east of Marmion Avenue, focusing on excellent urban design and more housing choice.

When completed, Eglinton, located two kilometres from the coast in the City of Wanneroo, would provide about 3,000 homesites for up to 7,500 people.

“With Perth expected to accommodate a further 556,000 people in the next two decades, the State Government’s vision for Eglinton is in line with our Directions 2031 and Beyond framework,” Mr Grylls said.

“The greater Alkimos-Eglinton area should house about 50,000 in the next 25 years.”

The Minister said the partnering opportunity at Eglinton was one of many Government collaborations with private companies designed to pool talent and expertise to optimise land and housing availability. The preferred proponent should be selected by November 2011.
