North-West MLA Vince Catania has welcomed State Government funding for a revegetation project on Pingandy Station in the Upper Gascoyne.
Mr Catania said Daniel Hastie of Pingandy had been allocated $15,000 for the works through the State Government’s Environmental Community Grants program.
The grant was one of a record 164 allocations totaling $1.58 million, announced by Environment Minister Bill Marmion.
Mr Catania said the Environmental Community Grants program supported on-the-ground projects that helped restore nature’s balance across the landscape.
In the past three years more than $4.5 million in Environmental Community Grants has been allocated for 433 projects across the State.
Environmental Community Grants are made across eight categories: biodiversity conservation; sustainable catchment management; fauna rescue and rehabilitation; regional parks; Bush Forever; interpretation and sustainable recreation in natural areas; support for major conservation and environment organisations; and protection of high value areas by landholders on private land.
The grants are administered by the Department of Environment and Conservation on behalf of the State Government.
