Member for Mining and Pastoral Hon Wendy Duncan MLC encourages regional West Australians to nominate individuals, businesses and community groups for the 2011 Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
“These awards are a wonderful opportunity to promote innovation and excellence by rural and regional West Australians, whether in their professional, recreational or voluntary activities,” Ms Duncan said.
“There are so many incredible people among us, and many go unrecognised. I urge everyone to consider those whose contributions are changing our lives and nominate them in one of the nine categories.”
Categories include, Community Group of the Year, Local Government Best Practice, Sustainability, Teaching Excellence, Business Enterprise, Indigenous Service, Environment, Volunteering, Leadership and Innovation.
From the category winners, one will be selected as the State Winner of the Regional Achievement and Community Award.
$20,000 in prizes will be shared by the ten winners who will be announced at the Gala Awards Presentation Dinner, Friday 11th November 2011.
“I appreciate the sponsors of the awards and of the categories for their commitment to fostering community organisations and small businesses. They too contribute greatly to making our communities greater places to live,” said Ms Duncan.
Nominations close 23 August and nomination forms may be obtained from my electorate office, from sponsors WIN Television, Commonwealth Bank and Skywest, or online at www.awardsaustralia.com/RACA_wa.html.
