Lands Minister Brendon Grylls today officially opened the Pilbara Display Village in Karratha, which provides the State’s greatest ever range of regional housing options.
The Baynton West Estate incorporates the latest building styles, innovations and living options currently available in Perth to the homebuyer market in the Pilbara.
“First homebuyers, singles and families can see first-hand affordable living choices, innovative designs and sustainability initiatives available,” Mr Grylls said.
“A major goal of the State Government’s Pilbara Cities’ initiative is to attract more builders and introduce more housing styles and choices to the region. This village clearly shows we have delivered on that promise.”
The Minister said given Pilbara’s wealth of natural resources, Karratha was poised to take advantage of the region’s economic growth.
“An expanding economy and community means the State Government must make available land, housing and amenities,” he said.
The Pilbara Display Village presents homes from 17 builders, displaying housing styles well suited to the region’s climate and designed to appeal to many buyers and budgets.
Homes are designed to suit the climate and maximise water and energy efficiency.
Mr Grylls said construction of the village began in November 2010 and people looking to build and settle in Karratha could decide on available options for their new home.
