Davies calls for nominations for regional awards

Member for the Agricultural Region, Mia Davies has called on individuals and businesses in the Agricultural Region to nominate for the Regional Achievement and Community Awards.
Ms Davies said these awards identify, recognise and pay tribute to the achievements of individuals, organizations and communities that aim to make regional WA a better place to live, work and invest.
“This is a great way to acknowledge the work of the individuals and businesses that put so much into the local community,” Ms Davies said.
“Last year the Morawa Education Alliance, a partnership between the Shire of Morawa, Morawa District High School, WA College of Agriculture Morawa and the Durack Institute of Technology, was recognised with the Local Government Best Practice Award.
“There are a range of exceptional business and individuals in the Agricultural Region that would be great candidates for these awards – I encourage you to nominate.”
Nominations are open in the following categories:
· RSM Bird Cameron Business Enterprise Award
· Department of Local Government - Local Government Best Practice Award
· Curtin University Teaching Excellence Award
· LandCorp Sustainability Award
· Department of Indigenous Affairs Indigenous Service Award
· Horizon Power Leadership & Innovation Award
· CSBP Environment Award
· Rinehart Family Volunteering Award
· Prime Super Community Group of the Year Award.
One of the nine category award winners will be selected as the winner of the Department for Regional Development and Lands, Regional Achievement and Community Award Winner.
Last year’s awards featured more than 200 entries across 10 award categories, reflecting the strong sense of community and environmental awareness in regional WA.
