The Esperance Foreshore Protection and Enhancement Project has been earmarked for $3m of the funds from the from the Royalties for Regions, Goldfields-Esperance Regional Grants Scheme Strategic Reserve, a decision welcomed by the Member for Mining and Pastoral, Wendy Duncan.

“The Esperance foreshore has been a bone of contention in the Esperance community ever since I can remember, and it is great news that we now have the funds to commence the works that will not only make foreshore infrastructure safe, but also greatly enhance Esperance’s finest asset,” Ms Duncan said.
As an employee of the Shire of Esperance from the late nineties, Ms Duncan was intimately involved in the foreshore masterplanning process and took it’s implementation as one of her election promises to government.
“We have all stood on the foreshore lamenting the erosion and the lack of a solution and now we are about to see a fantastic new phase in the development of Esperance and the foreshore,” she said.
The total cost of the Esperance Foreshore Protection and Enhancement Project is $45 million which will include footpaths, landscaping, irrigation and lighting along what will become an iconic promenade from James Street to the Tanker Jetty. The project will include a seawall between those two points and a headland at the base of the Tanker Jetty area for the development of tourism and cultural infrastructure.
“This is only the beginning of what will be a very exciting project and the community will soon start to see the benefit that Royalties for Regions is bringing to Esperance.
