Waldron welcomes latest round of Royalties for Regions Grants Scheme

Local Member for Wagin Terry Waldron MLA has welcomed the latest Regional Grants Scheme (RGS) announcements and the Wagin Electorate has again benefited from this scheme.

“The Regional Grants Scheme comes via the Royalties for Regions program and provides new opportunities for local communities and help to plan for sustainable economic and social future.” Mr Waldron said.
“The primary objective of the scheme is to develop infrastructure and services to regional areas through funding projects that will assist in attracting investment and increasing employment opportunities.
“Local decision making is vital for regional communities to identify the projects that will help improve the quality of life in each region, this year the Wagin Electorate has been awarded over $686,000,” he said.
Mr Waldron said there are nine regional development commissions to administer the scheme and included in the Wagin electorate is the Great Southern Development Commission, Wheatbelt Development Commission and Peel Development Commission.
Some of the successful projects within the Wagin Electorate include:
  • Narrogin Race & Pace Inc – stall expansion ($7,788);
  • Williams Childcare Services ($100,000);
  • Town of Narrogin – town hall upgrade ($100,000);
  • Wave Rock Airport ($50,000);
  • Borden Pavilion Sporting Precinct ($140,000);
  • Nyabing Golf Club refurbishment ($44,000);
  • Tambellup Independent Living Seniors Accommodation ($145,000);
  • Gnowangerup Shire Travel Stop ($80,000);
  • Woodanilling oval lighting additions and safety upgrades ($20,000).
 
“I am always pleased when Royalties for Regions money is allocated, this is all about putting money back into communities for projects and services that are determined and driven by the regional communities themselves,” Mr Waldron said.
