Davies supports Youth Parliament

Member for the Agricultural Region, Mia Davies has congratulated young people involved in Youth Parliament, particularly those representing regional areas.
Ms Davies said Youth Parliament, a program that places young people in the roles of Parliamentarians and allows them to debate and develop legislation, is a great way for young people to get involved with the political process.
“Programs such as Youth Parliament are important because they give young people an opportunity to get involved and share ideas on issues that matter to them,” Ms Davies said.
“Today, 50 young people from around Western Australia will enter the Western Australian Legislative Assembly to debate bills on 8 different topics.
“These include bills to address mental health issues in regional areas and improve education standards in regional WA.”
Ms Davies has contributed to sponsorship for Keiran Leeson, from Narrogin, to participate in Youth Parliament.
Keiran has been selected as the Member for Wagin. He is passionate about rural education issues and last year won the Kevin van Hefertin Award for his efforts in Youth Parliament.
The Australian Youth Parliament Program aim to educate, empower and unite young people to bring about positive social change. The program is open to all young people age 15 to 25.

The WA Youth Parliament program is developed and run by the YMCA, with assistance from the Western Australian Government.
