NRM groups deserve funds, Holt.

Hon Colin Holt MLC Member for the South West Region has urged the Minister for Agriculture to give local natural resource management (NRM) groups greater support.
“South Coast NRM and the Blackwood Basin Group have proven track records with on the ground results. They have won a number of NRM awards and I believe these groups are very capable of realising great outcomes for NRM in the South West and South Coast,” he said.
Mr Holt welcomed the Minister’s recent announcement of $14.5 million for 15 different NRM projects.
“I will be keenly watching to see if NRM groups receive any of the states funds to help deliver projects. I would be disappointed if all the resources remained within government agencies only.”
While the Federal Government has recently withdrawn funding from resource management groups such as South Coast NRM and the Blackwood Basin Group, Mr Holt said these groups were too important to be let down.
