Wear red for Ruby, Holt

Author: Colin Holt
Published on: 22-September-2011

Nationals’ member for the South West Region Hon. Colin Holt has called on all residents to wear red this Saturday September 24th to show their support for the second annual ‘Wear Red for Ruby Day’

‘Red for Ruby’ is an initiative aiming to remove the stigma attached to sufferers of adolescent mental health and mental illness.

“The 24th of September is a day about giving and receiving support.  I am sure that mental illness affects many of us in regional WA, and I believe we really need to say to the community that we are all there to help.  This is why it is important to raise awareness and assure everyone that they are not alone,” said Mr Holt. “

The Red for Ruby initiative was established in memory of Ruby Nicholls- Diver who suffered from Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The wearing of red to show support for Ruby on her birthday began with her friends and family.
