The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder will be ‘invaded’ by hundreds of motorhomes and campervans when it stages the annual national rally of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia later this month

Tourism Minister Kim Hames said the Fields of Gold rally was expected to attract up to 800 motorhomes and campervans, and around 1,600 visitors to Kalgoorlie-Boulder.

“The Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA) has 61,000 members, so holding its annual national rally in Kalgoorlie-Boulder is a great way to showcase the city, Australia’s Golden Outback region and Western Australia as a whole,” Dr Hames said.

The rally is being hosted by the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder with the support of the State Government through Eventscorp’s Regional Events Scheme, which is partly funded by Royalties for Regions.

Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said that funding for the scheme was doubled to $600,000 in 2011-12.

“This is part of a significant funding boost from Royalties for Regions of $40million over four years towards regional events,” Mr Grylls said.

“The State Government recognises that regional events help to build the profile of communities and boosts their prosperity by attracting new customers for local businesses, which is a key component in encouraging regional development.”
