The State Government through LandCorp wants to hear from visionary development companies from across Australia to help deliver a new bulky goods retail facility for Karratha.

Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said LandCorp was calling for a nationwide expression of interest (EOI) from the private sector to deliver a bulky goods retail precinct - a first for the town and an exciting opportunity for the community and businesses.

“We are looking for a suitable partner, or consortia, with the capacity to join LandCorp and develop a major bulky goods complex which will be an enormous boost for the Pilbara,”
Mr Grylls said.

“This opportunity is a first for Karratha, a key North-West resources town that is now taking shape as Western Australia’s new City of the North for an expected future permanent population of 50,000 people.

“This new project will help attract new investment in the Pilbara and assist in meeting local demand in Karratha for businesses such as major white goods, hardware and electronics retail facilities as the town’s population grows.

“It will also provide opportunities for existing businesses to relocate to this strategic location with great exposure.”

The successful proponent/s will enter a partnering arrangement with LandCorp to undertake commercial land development which could include built form development.

The Minister said the successful proponent/s would work with LandCorp for three months to progress project feasibility and initial development plans for the facility, prior to the finalisation of a commercial agreement.

The EOI closes at 2pm (WST) Thursday December
