Recreation trails from Onslow to Dumbleyung will be upgraded following the announcement of this year’s successful Lotterywest Trails Grants projects.
Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said the funding reinforced the importance of recreation trails to the health and wellbeing of individuals and their communities.
“There is a direct correlation between the number and quality of recreational facilities such as trails and the health and vitality of our communities,” Mr Waldron said.
“The trails also deliver broader benefits, particularly through tourism.”
The Trails Grants announcement is the latest result of a 13-year strong State Government partnership between the Department of Sport and Recreation and Lotterywest, which sees $1million invested in our State’s trails each year.
Lotterywest chairman John Atkins also highlighted the value of trails and their impact.
“Trails allow us all to enjoy active recreation and to appreciate our natural and cultural environments in communities right across the State,” Mr Atkins said.
