Local organisations have received funding under the Community Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund announced this week according to Member for Mining and Pastoral, Wendy Duncan MLC.

Successful Esperance projects were the Shire of Esperance, $21,647 towards resurfacing of two asphalt tennis courts and $32,470 for replacement of ablutions.

In Ravensthorpe, The Ravensthorpe Hand Gun Club received $12,095 towards ablutions and the Shire of Ravensthorpe secured $8,265 towards construction of 20 permanent steel pipe horse yards.

Ms Duncan said the grants were among the 30 community sport and recreation projects State-wide funded through the (CSRFF) Small Grants program.

This round’s successful applicants will share in a total of $733,364 in funding.

Administered by the Department of Sport and Recreation (DSR), the small grants are for projects under $150,000.

Ms Duncan congratulated the local recipients and thanked them for taking the time to apply for the funding which would improve the facilities available and make people’s recreation experience even better.

“I look forward to seeing this grant make a big difference to people in Esperance and Ravensthorpe, through both the improvements to the facilities and the benefits that come from increasing participation in sport and recreation,” Ms Duncan said.

The small grants open in February and July each year with a total annual budget of $1.5million.

Grants of up to $50,000 are available on a one-third contribution basis of the total eligible project cost. The opportunity exists to get up to fifty per cent funding if the development bonus criteria are met, increasing the potential maximum grant to $75,000.
