Western Australia’s major planning projects and investment potential are on show this week at the MIPIM Asia World Property Market Conference in Hong Kong.

Planning Minister John Day said the State Government display at the three-day event featured the Perth Waterfront and the Perth City Link projects, and also highlighted WA as a hub for resource development, agriculture, tourism, education and business.

“Western Australia’s presence at MIPIM will allow us to raise awareness and generate investor confidence in our State and its huge potential for investment,” Mr Day said.

“The timing of the conference is ideal for marketing the first stages of the Perth Waterfront, with expressions of interest now open for the completion of the design and construction of the inlet and its surrounding public space.

“This development is set to contain prime waterfront real estate and the MIPIM conference is an opportunity to demonstrate the upcoming opportunities Perth has to offer.”

Regional Development and Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said the presence of the Pilbara Cities project at MIPIM Asia provided the opportunity to discuss the developments taking place in the region with serious overseas investors.

“Our vision for the Pilbara will transform the region by building sustainable, attractive communities that are well serviced by modern infrastructure and amenities to support continued economic growth,” Mr Grylls said.

“More than $1billion in Royalties for Regions funding has been allocated over five years to implement Pilbara Cities, and the aim is to grow the region’s population to 140,000 by 2035.

“To achieve the Pilbara Cities vision, major scale projects are under way in the key delivery areas of land and housing, infrastructure, health, education, community development and economic diversification.”
