Davies celebrates Town Hall centenary with York community

Member for the Agricultural Region, Mia Davies this week joined the York community in celebrating te centenary of their Town Hall.
“Exactly 100 years ago on Tuesday, York’s historic Town Hall was officially opened - in a time when World War I was under way and York was abuzz with a gold rush,” Ms Davies said.
The centenary is being marked with a special exhibition - The Halcyon Years 1911-1931.
The exhibition looks at what York was like 100 years ago as well as the vision behind the creation of the Town Hall and its construction.
Ms Davies said the centenary and exhibition were a fantastic celebration of the history of York and the story behind the vibrant community that exists today.
“I congratulate the York community on putting together the celebrations to mark this important milestone in the town’s history,” Ms Davies said.
The Halcyon Years 1911-1931 exhibition is on display in the York Town Hall for one month.
