Member for the Agricultural Region, Mia Davies has congratulated three Waggrakine Primary School teachers for taking out top honours in the WA Education awards.
Lis Turner (Primary Principal of the Year), Paula Moses (Beginning Teacher of the Year) and Tania Crik (School Support Staff Member of the Year), were all recognised in an awards ceremony held in Perth yesterday.
“Talented, dedicated teachers, such as Lis, Paula and Tania, are the foundation of our education system,” Ms Davies said.
“Everybody remembers those special teachers throughout their schooling years – the ones that inspired and motivated us.
“Waggrakine is lucky to have at least three such teachers in their school community,” Ms Davies said.
Ms Davies said teachers were often the unsung heroes of regional communities, whose dedication extended way beyond the classroom.”
“Rarely are regional teacher’s duties contained between 9am-3.30pm,” Ms Davies said.
“More often than not our teachers are leading out-of-school-hours sport, helping with fundraising and providing guidance, when needed, to students and parents.”
Ms Davies said Waggrakine should be very proud to have three of Western Australia’s finest teachers within their community.
“I congratulate Lis, Paula and Tania on their success and even more importantly on the critical role they are playing in shaping the lives of Waggrakine’s next generation.”
