Funding for regional events across Western Australia is now available through Eventscorp’s Regional Events Scheme (RES), which is jointly funded by Royalties for Regions.
Tourism Minister Kim Hames said event organisers could apply for funding of up to $50,000 for smaller, developing regional events held between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013.
“Regional events are important as they add vibrancy to the host region by attracting visitors to not only enjoy the event, but also explore the area and all the extraordinary things it has to offer,” Dr Hames said.
“In addition, they increase the profile of a region through media coverage and generate a sense of community pride.
“Since July 2011, the State Government has committed support to 64 regional events across WA through Eventscorp’s Regional Events Scheme, thanks to a funding boost from Royalties for Regions.”
Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said the State Government had made a significant commitment to regional events by providing $40million over four years from Royalties for Regions.
“It is great to see that through Eventscorp’s Regional Events Scheme, Royalties for Regions is able to provide support to establish a wider range of smaller, developing events,” Mr Grylls said.
“Smaller scale and new events play an important role in the development of regional communities by encouraging community members and local businesses to get involved with events happening in their area.”
