Regional event holders are encouraged to apply for funding under Eventscorp’s Regional Events Scheme (RES), which is partly funded by Royalties for Regions.

Tourism Minister Kim Hames said smaller, developing regional events held between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013 could apply for funding between $5,000 and $50,000.

“The Regional Events Scheme supports the development of regional events across Western Australia to encourage visitation which in turn adds vibrancy to regional communities,” Dr Hames said.

“In addition, events attract media coverage, which helps to promote not only the event but also the region’s extraordinary tourism attractions.

“Thanks to extra funding from Royalties for Regions, Eventscorp has been able to support 64 regional events through the scheme since July 2011.”

Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said that Royalties for Regions had provided a $40million boost over four years to regional events, including $1.8million for the Regional Events Scheme. With funding from Eventscorp, this brought the total support for the RES to $3million.

”I encourage all organisers of events in regional Western Australia to apply for the funding through the Regional Events Scheme,” Mr Grylls said.

”Since Royalties for Regions partnered with Eventscorp, we have seen some fantastic entertainment and community events held in the regions.”
