Plans for the ongoing development and growth of Collie as a SuperTown have reached a crucial milestone following the shire’s endorsement of a new residential estate structure plan for public comment.
Unveiling the plans for the proposed Buckingham Way development, Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said the project would deliver a quality 234-lot estate with capacity to meet future population growth.
“Buckingham Way will contribute significantly to the economic growth of Collie by providing an attractive well integrated estate to offer contemporary and affordable country living options for families, singles and couples,” Mr Grylls said.
The local community have helped inform the development of the structure plan, with telephone research conducted in November 2010 with 201 local residents, and a further three focus groups held in Collie to fine tune the feedback.
As a result of that feedback, LandCorp’s Buckingham Way structure plan incorporates a number of design initiatives that capitalise on Collie’s preference for an outdoors, socially orientated country lifestyle through public open space planning, including a central ‘green’ corridor for community enjoyment.
The community can provide further feedback direct to the shire as part of the public comment period, which closes Monday February 27, 2012.
