Member for the North West, Vincent Catania has criticised the Federal Government over the recently announced recipients of the first round of funding through the $650 million Jobs Fund initiative.
$132 million in funding was announced for 172 projects throughout Australia under the Local Jobs and Get Communities Working streams of the Australian Government’s Jobs Fund.
“It is extremely disappointing that of this $132 million, only $4.5million has been allocated to Western Australia.” Mr Catania stated. “Furthermore, what is even more incredulous is that no projects in the North West electorate were selected, even though monies were applied for by organisations in desperate need.”
Only two projects were funded outside of Perth, for little over $500.000.00. These are based in Broome and Port Hedland.
“Western Australia provides the Federal Government with billions in royalties annually and yet is consistently overlooked when it comes to injecting money back into the community.” Mr Catania said.
