MORE than $7 million funding is available for upgrade of regional airports through the Regional Airports Development Scheme.
Member for the Mining and Pastoral Region Hon Wendy Duncan MLC urged regional local governments and other operators to consider proposals to improve their local facilities.
“This is an opportunity for regional airports to upgrade their capability, security and amenity for their destination and prepare the State for the next period of growth and development,” Ms Duncan said.
RADS funding aims to improve aviation infrastructure and services ensuring regional airports are able to support community, business and tourism.
Ms Duncan said the funding was made up of State Government and Royalties for Region’s money.
“Royalties for Regions is contributing nearly $22 million over four years to projects across the State to improve airport infrastructure at regional airports.”
Submissions are assessed on a number of criteria including the type of project; benefit to the community or region, integration with airport master plans; and environmental management.
There is a lower limit of grants for $10,000, with no upper limit.
