The Member for Mining and Pastoral Region, Hon Wendy Duncan, has today announced that a total of 689 applications, amounting to almost $106 million in funding requests had been received by the nine Regional Development Commissions in the latest funding round of the Regional Grants Schemes.
Hon Wendy Duncan MLC said there had been a superb response to the second round of the Regional Grants Scheme in the Mining and Pastoral Region.
“The Royalties for Regions funded scheme had made $3.5million available to each Development Commission for projects to help attract investment, increase jobs and improve the quality of life in regional WA,” Ms Duncan said.
“A total of 265 applications requesting funds of $54.6 million towards projects valued in excess of $803.7 million had been received by the Development Commissions throughout the Mining and Pastoral Region and included the Kimberley, Pilbara, Goldfields/Esperance and Gascoyne Regional Development Commissions, for a variety of projects.
Ms Duncan said all of the second round applications would now undergo a thorough assessment process by the individual Development Commission Boards, with successful applicants being notified by the end of the financial year.
The Minister for Regional Development Brendon Grylls said the total value of projects seeking Royalties for Regions contributions totaled in excess of $989 million.
“This represents a significant commitment to the development of regional Western Australia and I look forward to local communities enjoying the benefits from these projects.” Mr Grylls said.
