This weekend the Great Southern City of Albany will provide the backdrop for The Nationals WA 2010 Annual State Conference.
State President Colin Holt said he was looking forward to showcasing the Party, its elected Members, Federal candidates and delegates in this important Federal election year.
“Our Annual State Conference is the premier event for members and supporters on The Nationals WA calendar,” Mr Holt said.
“This is the opportunity for our members to debate motions that have been brought forward through their local branch or electorate council.”
Mr Holt said he was pleased to announce The Nationals WA Parliamentary Leader, Brendon Grylls; Leader of the Federal Nationals, Warren Truss; and Deputy Leader of The Federal Nationals in the Senate, Fiona Nash would be attending.
He said The Nationals would also reveal more details about their plan to ‘reverse the rip-off’ at the Conference, as they gear up for the Federal Election later this year.
“Regional Western Australians are tired of their State being used as a money-pit to fund projects in the Eastern States,” Mr Holt said.
“The Nationals have given regional WA a voice in State Parliament, and Royalties for Regions has allowed regional communities to share in the wealth they produce.
“We are now looking to send a team to Canberra to reverse the rip-off and get WA’s fair share.”
The Nationals WA 2010 Annual State Conference will start on Friday 26 March with the President’s Sundowner.
Saturday 27 March will offer a full program, including breakfast hosted by the Young Nationals with Professor Geoff Riley (UWA) speaking about youth mental illness, followed by the Conference itself.
The day will conclude with the Annual Conference Dinner, where delegates and supporters have the opportunity to hear from Queensland businessman and mining identity Professor Clive Palmer.
Registrations from the Albany business and community sectors have been strong and these representatives will join delegates for a unique networking opportunity.
