A total of 689 applications, amounting to almost $106 million in funding requests had been received by the nine Regional Development Commissions in the latest funding round of the Regional Grants Schemes.

Vincent Catania MLA Member for North West said there had been a superb response to the second round of the Regional Grants Scheme in the North West.

“The Royalties for Regions funded scheme had made $3.5million available to each Development Commission for projects to help attract investment, increase jobs and improve the quality of life in regional WA,” Mr Catania.

“A total of 41 applications requesting funds of $17.2 million towards projects valued in excess of $28,223,136.15, had been received by the Gascoyne Regional Development Commission for a variety of projects.

Mr Catania said all of the second round applications would now undergo a thorough assessment process by the Gascoyne Development Commission Board with successful applicants being notified at the end of May this year

The Minister for Regional Development Brendon Grylls said the total value of projects seeking Royalties for Regions contributions totalled in excess of $992 million.

“This represents a significant commitment to the development of regional Western Australia and I look forward to local communities enjoying the benefits from these projects.” Mr Grylls said.
