Nationals’ Member for the South West Region Hon. Colin Holt has called on all volunteer groups in the region to make sure they apply for the Federal Governments 2010 Volunteer Grants.
“Volunteers are often the unsung heroes of our communities, often being the social glue of the communities they serve. I urge them to apply for the funding so they can continue their great work,” said Mr. Holt.
Volunteer Grants 2010 provides funding of between $1,000 and $5,000 to help non-profit organisations to:
- contribute towards the costs of training courses for volunteers and/or undertaking background screening checks for volunteers; and/or
- purchase portable, tangible, small equipment items to help volunteers; and/or
- contribute towards fuel reimbursement for their volunteers, including those who use their cars to transport others to activities, deliver food and assist people in need.
“Applications for grants close on Friday the 16th of April at 2pm, it is imperative that all interested volunteer and not for profit groups get their applications in to avoid missing out,” said Mr Holt.
