Connecting communities, Grylls

Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls today officially launched the new branding and logo for the Community Resource (CRC) Network at Boddington.

The Liberal-National Government through Royalties for Regions has allocated $40million across four years to the Community Resource Network to expand and enhance existing services and the launch marks a new phase for the highly successful Telecentre program, begun in 1991.

“The official opening of the new Boddington Community Resource Centre begins the roll-out of new centres across the State and is the first to be established with funding from Royalties for Regions,” Mr Grylls said.

“The CRC Network provides comprehensive education and training sessions in creating pathways to employment, in addition to existing services including access to computers, high speed internet and government information referral services.

“The Community Resource Network has the potential to become the shop-front and a one-stop shop for government services and delivery in regional communities across Western Australia.

“Capacity within the network will continue to grow through the CRC Trainee Support Grant program which, since its inception in January, has employed 13 trainees.”

The Minister said that another new initiative was the upgrading of videoconferencing equipment in all Community Resource Centres which would be introduced into all centres by next month.

“This will provide all CRCs with access to videoconferencing services through the internet using their current broadband connection and I look forward to all centres bringing this service online,” he said.
