Local Member for Wagin Terry Waldron MLA said it was fantastic to see projects under the Royalties for Regions Programme being completed across the region.
“Just recently I have attended the opening of new facilities including the Gnowangerup Medical Centre, the upgraded Kondinin Town Hall, new parks in Gnowangerup, Tambellup and Broomehill, new lighting at Clayton Road Narrogin and new housing and other projects in many of our communities,” Mr Waldron said.
“I congratulate our Local Governments who are utilising their Royalties for Regions Local Government grant to build new facilities and upgrade other facilities in their communities,” he said.
Mr Waldron said the next round of Royalties for Regions Development Grants should be announced in late June, early July.
“There has been a huge response to this round with 689 applications amounting to almost $106m in funding requests including 75 from the Wheatbelt and 73 from the Great Southern. The Development Commission have a total of $31.5m to provide to these projects and they are now being assessed by the Commission Boards.” Mr Waldron said.
“These grants will continue to deliver real benefits to our communities and the great thing is that the process sees State Government partnering with our Local Governments and Development Commissions to have the decisions made locally,” he said.
Mr Waldron said there would be another round opened in the second half of this year.
