Member for Moore, Grant Woodhams MLA has today welcomed the announcement by Education Minister, Elizabeth Constable that the Liberal-National Government’s introduction of a major new literacy and numeracy assessment program for pre-primary students will include three schools in the Moore electorate.
Carnamah and Morawa District High Schools along with Dandaragan Primary School have been selected in the first phase of schools who will take part in the On-Entry Assessment Program. The program is aimed at kindergarten aged children and will help schools identify those who may need additional numeracy and literacy support before they start primary school.
“It is a well know fact that what a child learns in the formative years builds the foundations for learning experiences and abilities for the rest of their lives’. Mr Woodhams said.
“Literacy and numeracy are vital skills and early intervention is paramount to ensuring that every child has the ability to reach their full potential.”
“I am very pleased that the three schools in my electorate have been chosen for the first phase of the program.”
