Lands Minister Brendon Grylls said Ertech Pty Ltd had been awarded a contract to undertake subdivision and civil works on land for almost 250 homes, as well as light industrial lots in LandCorp’s new Broome North development.
Mr Grylls said developing and releasing the land this year was essential to keep ahead of demand and ensure reasonably priced land was available, another example of the Government providing for the ongoing development of the region.
Recent budget announcements also provided for further development in Broome along with plans for a multi-million dollar small boat harbour.
“These first stages of residential land in Broome North will offer families a new price range, more choice of housing and more affordable options,” the Minister said.
“Our successful applications for the Commonwealth Government’s Housing Affordability Fund (HAF) and National Rental Affordability Scheme (NRAS) mean we will be able to offer even more options for first home buyers and low income earners.
“Working in partnership with the private sector, these schemes are intended to encourage development of more affordable housing for both the owner occupier and rental markets.”
Mr Grylls said construction would begin on site in early June and was expected to last until the end of the year.
Lots would go on sale to the general public later in the year, with a separate pre-release for social housing.
