Not-for-profit community based groups and organisations can now apply for up to $1000 from the Small Grants Scheme to coordinate a WA Week project or event in October this year.
Last year projects from Esperance, Balgo and Kalgoorlie were successful.
Member for the Mining and Pastoral region Wendy Duncan said WA Week was re-launched by Celebrate WA in October 2007 to provide Western Australians with an opportunity to celebrate WA’s unique history, heritage and development, and to celebrate individual and collective achievement and contribution.
“This is a fabulous opportunity for groups to organise an event which not only celebrates what it means to be Western Australian, it will also provide an avenue to foster community pride, inclusiveness and recognise some of the incredible work done in communities,” Ms Duncan said.
Some of the 2009 successful applicants were: Esperance Community Arts Inc, Film Night at the Bijou Theatre; Eastern Goldfields YMCA Community and Youth Services, Kalgoorlie West Aussie Week; Kapululangu Aboriginal Women's Association, Celebrating 70 Years of Culture Survival in Balgo.
The State Government sponsored Small Grants Scheme provides funding for a WA Week project or event during 18-24 October this year.
Grant applications close on 22 July.
