Nationals’ Member for the South West Region Hon. Colin Holt has welcomed the Royalties for Regions funding for the continuation of the Perth International Arts Festival Great Southern.
The Perth International Arts festival was awarded funding through the Royalties for Regions Regional Grant Scheme. This funding will allow the festival to continue to run in the Great Southern until 2013.
“I think it is great that the people of the Great Southern will get to see world class performers in their own backyard,” said Mr Holt.
“PIAF will again bring outstanding talent to Albany and the Great Southern region and the ongoing support that the festival has been given will help grow the arts in the local community,” said Mr Holt.
“The Albany Entertainment Centre (AEC) is nearing completion and while the project has been a little divisive, I believe we must encourage world class performers and events like PIAF to Albany to get the most from the AEC,” said Mr Holt.
“Like it or not the AEC is on the doorstep and we must put it centre stage to make sure it is used to its capability.”
