The Nationals WA are calling on voters across regional WA to reverse the rip-off by putting The Nationals first at the upcoming election on 21 August 2010.
State President of The Nationals WA Colin Holt said regional areas in WA have been underrepresented in Federal Parliament for too long.
“Regional WA is sick of being used as a money-pit to fund projects in the Eastern States,” Mr Holt said.
“The recent debate around the mining tax has highlighted why we need strong federal representation for regional WA.
“It’s the same old problem, Canberra has great plans to take money from WA but we hear nothing about investment back in our regional communities.
“Our team are calling on the Federal Government to match Royalties for Regions, dollar for dollar, to ensure regional WA gets its fair share.”
The Nationals have preselected strong candidates for the Federal seats of O’Connor, Durack and a team for the Senate.
Tony Crook (Kalgoorlie) is working hard in O’Connor and changes to electoral boundaries mean the seat now represents a significantly different area.
Lynne Craigie (Newman), candidate for Durack, is a long term Pilbara resident with plans to give the Mid West and North West a strong voice at the decision making table.
The Nationals WA Senate team will be lead by John McCourt (Broome), with the strong message that we need a Senator like Barnaby Joyce to represent our State.
John is supported on the ticket by Veronica Fleay (Exmouth) and Michael Rose (Corrign).
“The team standing for The Nationals WA are independent, so we will always fight for what is best for regional WA – unlike representatives from major parties who will be drowned out by MPs from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane,” Mr Holt said.
