Waldron welcomes Cancer Centre for Narrogin

Local Member for Wagin Terry Waldron MLA has welcomed the recent announcement of a Cancer Centre at the Narrogin Regional Hospital.
“The announcement of Capital Funding for a Cancer Centre in Narrogin to service Narrogin and the surrounding region for cancer treatment is fantastic news,” Mr Waldron said.
Mr Waldron said the new Cancer Centre will consist of three chemotherapy chairs and two units of accommodation off site for those travelling to Narrogin to access this treatment. It will also have the capacity for office, group and meeting space for a variety of health professionals involved in supporting people with cancer and their families.
“This is a wonderful initiative and a many people from our region will be able to access treatments and help without the problems of having to travel to Perth, during a time of stress and uncertainty” Mr Waldron said.
“This centre will provide a holistic and multi-disciplinary patient care which will now be closer to family and the homes of those who need this treatment in a timely manner and when stress should be kept to a minimum. Unfortunately some who have more complex cancers may still need to travel to Perth for that specialist treatment.” Mr Waldron said.
“It is always very satisfying to welcome new and inclusive major health services into our region and these facilities will assists the region is so many ways. The obvious ease of access to health professionals and having these professionals involved in our community is also an additional benefit,” he said.
Mr Waldron said he has been informed a service model planning has commenced from which the design of the new cancer centre will develop.
“I look forward to watching and monitoring the progress of this project and encourage the involvement of local community groups who also provide vital services to local cancer sufferers.” Mr Waldron said.
