The Nationals WA lead Senate Candidate, John McCourt has committed himself to stand up for WA in the Senate should if elected on August 21.

Mr McCourt said today he fully backed the position of the Nationals’ House of Representatives candidates for Durack and O’Connor in their independent stance.

Mr McCourt said his position in running for the Senate is the same as that of Tony Crook (O’Connor) and Lynne Craigie (Durack) in that will not be part of a Federal Coalition and will vote independently in the best interests of regional WA.

“Like my colleagues, I believe the major parties have failed regional Western Australia for decades – and WA as a whole.

Mr McCourt repeated an earlier call by Nationals WA candidate for Durack, Lynne Craigie, for the major parties to make it clear why they don’t support The Nationals’ plan to seek matching funds for Royalties for Regions from the Commonwealth.

“Liberal and Labor Party representatives haved failed to deliver for regional WA because they were always outvoted by Eastern States, city politicians in their party room,” Mr McCourt said.
