Nationals’ member for the South West Region Hon. Colin Holt has welcomed the Minister for Water’s, Dr Graham Jacobs’ recent announcement that Dawesville will be the next community to get a sewage service as part of the Governments Infill Sewage Program.
“This is a good result for the local community and I am glad that the program continues to be rolled out.”
The Water Corporation is in the process of doing the preliminary design and is expected to go to the Tender process in November. The Government expects work to begin in January 2011.
The Minister has also announced funds for investigation and design works for two other areas in the Peel region, Falcon and an area in the Shire of Murray known as ‘Murray Bend’.
“Murray Bend has a critical need for infill sewerage for a long time and it should be done. I certainly appreciate that the Minister has responded positively to approaches by myself and the community for him to put Murray Bend as a priority” said Mr Holt.
Mr Holt has called on any local shires in the South West to contact his office if they have areas which should to be included as part of the Infill Sewage Program and need to be brought to the Minister’s attention.
