Moore’s Best and Brightest, Woodhams

Member for Moore, Hon Grant Woodhams MLA has congratulated three students from the electorate of Moore who were announced amongst Western Australia’s 175 best and brightest for 2009. The annual awards recognise public school students who are the most outstanding academic and vocational students in Western Australia and were announced today by Education Minister, Hon Elizabeth Constable MLA.
The three students are Heather Chapman (TEE studies) and Crystal Chaplin (WSA/VET studies)from Central Midlands High School and WA College of Agriculture-Morawa student, Pippa Bain for WSA/VET studies.
“Being an award recipient is wonderful recognition of the hard work and commitment that Heather, Crystal and Pippa have shown and I would like to congratulate them on the excellent results they have achieved in the last year of their schooling. I would also like to acknowledge the excellent work done by staff in public schools in regional areas.” Mr Woodhams said.
The awards have been an annual event since 2005 and are open to all public school students who have met the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) requirements for secondary graduation.
To be eligible for the awards, students must complete a minimum of four Year 12 TEE subjects and receive a minimum of three A grades and one B grade. Wholly School Assessed (WSA) and Vocational Education and Training (VET) students have to complete a minimum of four Year 12 WSA subjects/WACE courses and achieve a minimum of three A grades and one B grade or alternatively, complete a minimum of three Year 12 WSA/WACE courses and one subject equivalent with a minimum of three A grades. Award recipients receive a $1000 cash prize.
