Calling all National Servicemen, Woodhams

Calling all National Servicemen Member for Moore, Grant Woodhams MLA is aiming to contact all servicemen born between 1932 and 1952 who are currently living in the electorate of Moore.

“I have been asked by local members of the National Servicemen’s Association of Australia (NSAA) WA Branch to help to find those members in my electorate who have yet to claim their Anniversary of National Service 1951-1972 Medal and the Australian Defence Medal.”

“All National Servicemen are entitled to receive these medals regardless of whether they served overseas or only in Australia.” Mr Woodhams said. Also of interest is the National Servicemen’s Memorial which is currently being constructed in the surrounds of the Australian War Memorial in Canberra.

The memorial will be dedicated to those who were called up for National Service between 1951 and 1972 and is particularly in recognition of the 212 who died in active service. The memorial is due to be dedicated in September 2010.
