Local Member for Wagin Terry Waldron said he was thrilled with the State Government’s announcement of $17million funding for the construction of the new Katanning Saleyards.

“It has been a long haul working with the Shire to achieve this excellent outcome for Katanning, the region and the sheep industry,” Mr Waldron said.
“I congratulate the Katanning Shire and the local community for their hard work, drive and persistence in pursuing the new saleyards,” he said.
Mr Waldron who lobbied hard within Government for the new saleyard facilities for Katanning, said the positive decision by the State Government showed their confidence in agriculture and was a great boost particularly in what has been a tough seasonal year.
“This decision removes the uncertainty and the new facility will be a great asset for our region,” Mr Waldron said.
“The new facility will provide many benefits including environmental, animal welfare and ease of handling for agents, transporters, exporters and those attending sales,” he said.
Mr Waldron also welcomed the $2.2million towards the Mt Barker cattle saleyards and $2.2million to kick start the replacement of the Boyanup cattle yards.
